Your Expert Guide: Comparing Illuminated Styles Between Halo Lit, Face Lit, Combo, and Two-Sided Lit Products

We recognize that our customers select from among Gemini’s large product portfolio based on application. Beyond that, our aim is to give detailed information on products so you can find a solution that provides the appearance your customers desire with the materials they need for the application.

Our expert team highlights our various illuminated signage in material, look, and style to create a powerful, dramatic impression 24/7. Design options include several plastic and metal materials applied to halo-, face-, and side- illuminated applications in LED lit solutions.

Halo Lit Letters and Logos

Our halo-lit signage give an appearance of high sophistication with depth and permanency, allowing customers to design large-scale without overwhelming the environments. Even the narrowest strokes and details can house our compact modules to provide even illumination and appearance with no lighting dead zones. Over 60 different finish options are available in either brushed or painted aluminum or stainless steel, with sculpted, prismatic, flat, or round face options. And our customers can choose from fabricated aluminum and stainless-steel faces and cast metal products to our acrylic and formed printed and painted plastic signage.

Face Lit Signage

Gemini’s face lit letters and logos enable retailers, company brands, and organizations to always highlight their strong visual identity. A step beyond traditional fabricated letters, our product solutions offer expertly fabricated metal returns and high-quality diffused acrylic faces for limitless design possibilities. They are available in precision-fit, narrow trim, or trimless finishing, including premium solid cast acrylic solutions. With a broad selection of acrylic that features removable face retainer or removable can, dependent on size, for easy access, our customers can get the right combination of colors in either brushed or painted aluminum or stainless steel that function well in both daylight and lowlight conditions.

Two-Sided Illuminated Signage: Blade Signs (NEW OFFERING)

Gemini also offers signage for two-sided illuminated applications with 24-hour visibility, designed for indoor and outdoor solutions. They’re built to withstand inclement weather and are ideal for businesses in dense traffic locations. Our fabricated metal signs are available in aluminum, in five available configurations (blank blade sign, two-sided lit blade sign, two-sided push thru blade sign, single sided blade sign, and single push thru blade sign) and heights up to 46 in. You can finish these blade signs in any of our standard painted colors or request a custom match at no additional cost.

Side Lit Signs

Our side lit letters and logos produce a similar effect to halo-lit lighting yet create a lower profile to emphasize sign messaging. Featuring translucent plastic letter faces designed for LED lighting and available in several face colors, Gemini’s side lit offerings allow for painted letter faces with translucent returns. Letters, which come with translucent acrylic returns and a removable back, are available in four thicknesses and provide a soft glow that embraces its shape.

Combining Lighting Styles

While any of these lighting styles make an impact on their own, combining them certainly can enhance the appearance of your signage. For example, combining halo-lit and face-lit signage can create a contrast and incorporating two-sided illuminated signage ensures visibility from multiple angles. Combining different lighting styles is a good way to make a strong, lasting impression on visitors.

Additional Tips When Comparing Styles

Beyond material, look, and finish options, here are additional tips for comparing styles among Gemini’s illuminated signage to help you find the best solution for the application and budget.

  • Keep your sizes in mind. This is especially true if your sign has both large and small elements that you would like produced in the same way. While products have specific size parameters, our team is always available to find a solution that works for you.
  • Consider your mounting surface and how the signage will be anchored to it. If your sign will be mounted to drywall only, you might want a lightweight product like halo-lit formed plastic or acrylic adhered with double face tape. Heavier products like trimless fabricated metal or halo-lit cast metal are good options if your sign will be supported by studs in the wall.
  • Know your finish. The biggest differences between our lit product types are the finishes offered. Knowing the desired finish on your final product will help narrow down your available options.
  • Factor in the distance your sign will be viewed from. Face lighting is a great option for visibility over a long distance but may be too intense for a sign mounted near eye level that is intended to be viewed from close distances.
  • Avoid pairing brushed stainless steel and brushed aluminum finishes. The two metal tones do not match and will appear very different when mounted near each other. This situation is common when a sign has larger and smaller letters near one another.
