Sublimation is the process by which a solid converts directly into a gas, skipping the liquid phase entirely. At Gemini, we apply this process to produce vibrant, permanent images on our thin gauge metal signs.
We reproduce images on sublimation transfer paper and ink with a digital printer. The sublimation paper is put into a heat press with a metal plate. The combination of heat and pressure causes the sublimation ink to convert into a gas. In this gaseous state, the ink permeates the metal's polymer coating. Once removed from the heat press, the image is permanently embedded in the plate — resistant to peeling, fading, or flaking. Full-color graphics, photographs, and detailed artwork reproduce exceptionally well using this method.

We offer two sublimation plaque products tailored to different environments:
- Dynasub — Designed for interior use only. Exposure to direct sunlight will cause the ink to fade over time.
- DuraLuxe — Engineered for exterior signage. DuraLuxe sublimated plaques are UV-resistant and highly resistant to scratching and graffiti.
Note: When ordering, specify whether your sign will be installed indoors or outdoors so we can recommend the sublimation product best suited for your project.
