Thin Gauge Plates

What is sublimation?

Sublimation is a chemical process where a solid changes directly to a gas, bypassing the liquid phase. We use a sublimation process on our thin gauge plaques.

We reproduce images on sublimation transfer paper and ink with a digital printer. The sublimation paper is put into a heat press with a metal plate. The combination of heat and pressure causes the ink and transfer paper to change to a gas. Once in a gas state, the ink and transfer paper permeate the metal plate coating. Once removed from the heat press, the image is imprinted permanently on the plate. Full-color graphics and photographs work well with this method.

We have two sublimation plaque products, one for indoor use and another for outdoor use. Dynasub is for interior use only, as exposure to direct sunlight will cause the ink to fade. DuraLuxe is for exterior signage as our exterior sublimated plaques are UV-resistant and scratch and graffiti-proof.

Note: When ordering, specify your signage location to select the processing method best suited for your project.
