Cut Files are free, flexible, and designed to help you work more efficiently. A cut file is a digital version of the production file our sales team uses to manufacture your order.
Cut files include the cutting paths and outlines for letters or logos, stud locations (when available), and the installation pattern to assist with accurate placement. Files are sent in .pdf and .eps formats, making them compatible with most design and production programs.

They save time by eliminating the need to recreate installation patterns manually and help ensure a smooth, accurate installation experience. They are available upon request for most Gemini products.
You can use a cut file to:
- Plan out your installation ahead of time
- Cut matching vinyl graphics
- Recreate a layout from a previous order
When to Request a Cut File
You can request a cut file:
- When placing a new order
- While an order is in production
- For any previous Gemini order
How to Request a Cut File
Cut files are available after production begins. This ensures the file reflects the final approved version used by the plant, accounting for any changes made during the art approval process.
In Partner Portal, the Request Cut File button appears only after your order has entered production. When you select this button, this alerts our team to provide you with a cut file. You can also request a file at any time by contacting your regional Gemini team.
Notes on Compatibility
- Fabricated, cast, formed letters, and most plaques have manually placed studs. Stud locations for these products are not recorded and won't appear in the cut file.
- Orders before 2019 may lack stud location data, but we can still provide cutting outlines and a blank drill pattern.
- The content of the .pdf and .eps files is identical. Only the format differs for user compatibility.
