Gemini has two methods of achieving this look: Chemical Oxidizing and Alternative Oxidizing. Both are warrantied for life indoors or outdoors. | [![Bronze Oxidized Light](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Bronze%20Oxidized%20Light.jpg?width=220&height=148&name=Bronze%20Oxidized%20Light.jpg)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Bronze%20Oxidized%20Light.jpg?hsLang=en) | [![Bronze Oxidized Standard](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Bronze%20Oxidized%20Standard.jpg?width=220&height=148&name=Bronze%20Oxidized%20Standard.jpg)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Bronze%20Oxidized%20Standard.jpg?hsLang=en) | [![Bronze Oxidized Dark](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Bronze%20Oxidized%20Dark.png?width=220&height=148&name=Bronze%20Oxidized%20Dark.png)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Bronze%20Oxidized%20Dark.png?hsLang=en) | | --- | --- | --- | | Light Oxidized | Standard Oxidized | Dark Oxidized | *Top triangle piece is Traditional Chemical Oxidized and bottom piece is Alternative Oxidized* **Chemical Oxidizing-** This involves a chemical dipping process and is the method that Gemini has used for many years to apply an "aged" appearance to bronze and brass plaques. Each plaque is finished by hand, which controls the brightness of the surface and the streaked appearance follows the grain direction. We provide three levels of this finish: Light, Standard, and Dark Oxidized. Due to their hand finished nature, the appearance of Traditional Chemical Oxidized plaques varies a bit from order to order. This finish is shown in the gallery above using the triangular top piece of the Gemini logo. - 15% upcharge required - Maximum size of 24" x 18" - Entire plaque is dipped so returns/background/surface will be oxidized. - Black or Dark Oxide paint is recommended for background. No light colors. - Not recommended for ADA plaques due to lower contrast. **Alternative Oxidizing-** As an alternative, we provide an oxidized coating that allows for greater material control and consistency. This finish is represented in the bottom piece of the Gemini logo in the gallery above. - No upcharge - No Maximum size - Specialized coating - Lighter colored paints are possible. **[Learn more about Alternative Oxidization](https://hub.geminimade.com/knowledge/advantages-of-our-proprietary-alternative-coating?hsLang=en)** --- ### **Polished Finishes** | **Material** | **Product Availability** | | --- | --- | | [![Polished Aluminum](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/Gemini-Alum-Polish.jpg?width=340&height=114&name=Gemini-Alum-Polish.jpg)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/Gemini-Alum-Polish.jpg?hsLang=en) **Polished Aluminum** | - Precision Tooled | | [![Polished Bronze](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/Gemini-Brnz-Polish-1.jpg?width=340&height=114&name=Gemini-Brnz-Polish-1.jpg)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/Gemini-Brnz-Polish.jpg?hsLang=en) **Polished Bronze** | - Precision Tooled - Cast**1** - Etched**2** | | [![Polished Brass](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/Gemini-Brass.jpg?width=340&height=113&name=Gemini-Brass.jpg)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/Gemini-Brass.jpg?hsLang=en) **Polished Brass** | - Precision Tooled - Etched**2** | | [![Stainless Steel polished](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Stainless%20Steel%20recessed.6.png?width=670&height=230&name=Stainless%20Steel%20recessed.6.png)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Stainless%20Steel%20recessed.6.png?hsLang=en) **Polished Stainless Steel** | - Etched**2** | **Polishing Notes:** - **Polished on Precision Tooled** - Precision Tooled Brass or Bronze can be polished up to 50"x40", and aluminum can be polished up to 40"x36". - ADA plaques with braille cannot have a polished surface. - If polishing just the border, there needs to be 1.5" spacing from any other surface/raised element on the plaque. Art review is required. - Polished returns/edges are available on plaques starting at 1/4" depth. - +50% upcharge for a polished face on Precision plaques. - **Polished on Cast Plaques** - **1**While polished bronze is available in cast, due to the sand casting process, it is possible that some pitting may appear on broader raised areas. Polishing may not be able to completely remove these defects. Precision Tooled is a safe alternative for most artwork. - Polished aluminum on cast plaques is not possible, we can do a "buffed" appearance. Similar to bronze polishing, aluminum polishing is also best with precision tooled plaques. - +50% upcharge for a polished face on Cast plaques. Size and material limitations apply. - **Polished on Etched Plaques** - - **2**Polishing on etched plaques is available with recessed copy only. - - Etched Brass or Bronze can be polished up to 50"x36", and stainless steel can be polished up to 24"x24". - Photo etching not available with polished finish. - +60% upcharge for a polished face on Etched plaques. Size limitations apply. --- ### **Return (Edge) Finishes** Painted returns is standard on all plaques, however, there are two specialty options: **Polished Returns** - Requires minimum size of 3"x2" - Rectangular, circle, and elipse shaped plaques recommended. Most custom shapes are not possible with polished returns. Check with our customer experience team to see if your shape is possible. **Bead Blasted Returns** - Precision tooled with bead blasted returns is available up to 32"x32". - Minimum plaque depth of 1/4" required. - Used as an option for non-smooth returns or custom shapes. - "No Border", "Inset single line", and "Inset double line" style borders with raised text cannot have bead blasted returns. The same is true for any border style where the painted background goes all the way to the edge. - While the bead blasted background finish is not warrantied, bead blasted edges are warrantied as long as the rest of the plaque is finished. (Example: bead blasted edges with a horizontal brushed surface and black painted background is warrantied.) --- ### **Flash Bronze** Flash Bronze is a tint added to the clearcoat to give aluminum plaques a similar look to bronze, though it is not an exact match. - 15% upcharge for Flash Bronze. - Flash Bronze is available for Precision Tooled and Cast aluminum plaques. - Flash bronze is warrantied only for interior locations free from exposure to UV lighting, skylights, or windows as it can cause the tint to fade back to the aluminum quickly. #### [![Flash Bronze](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/FlashBronze.jpg?width=670&height=223&name=FlashBronze.jpg)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/FlashBronze.jpg?hsLang=en) --- ### **Random Orbital Surface** A non-directional surface. - Cast plaques with a width 84" or larger, a height 48" or larger, or in the case of a circle plaque a diameter 60" or larger require random orbital. - PhotoRelief, Sculpted, or Bas Relief options require random orbital. - There is a 15% upcharge for random orbital on Etched plaques but no upcharge on Precision or Cast plaques. ![random orbital](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/random%20orbital.jpg?width=670&height=226&name=random%20orbital.jpg) ### **Multi-Painted** [![2 Raised paint colors](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/RaisedPainted.jpg?width=483&height=241&name=RaisedPainted.jpg)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/RaisedPainted.jpg?hsLang=en) To do multiple painted colors on a Precision Tooled or Cast plaque, larger stroke widths are required. Additionally, sufficient space is needed between different colors on the same surface (raised or recessed). Up to **2 additional colors** can be determined. Additional charges apply. | [![More than 3 painted colors](https://hub.geminimade.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/f-27-147-15027905_ZbToKaHb_5E28F0F3-FB49-40C5-BB05-545F1A3B9D96.jpeg?width=249&height=187&name=f-27-147-15027905_ZbToKaHb_5E28F0F3-FB49-40C5-BB05-545F1A3B9D96.jpeg)](https://hub.geminimade.com/hubfs/Gemini%20Guide%20Images/Specialty%20Plaque%20Finishes/f-27-147-15027905_ZbToKaHb_5E28F0F3-FB49-40C5-BB05-545F1A3B9D96.jpeg?hsLang=en)For multi-colored plaques requiring **3 or more colors** in raised or recessed areas, **[contact us through Partner Portal for review and custom pricing.](https://geminimade.com/partner/support/)** | | --- |   -
