Bas Relief
We start with a customer-supplied photograph, and the finished image on the plaque will be an artist's interpretation of the photograph. The photograph is turned into a sculpted model. An Image of the model is sent for customer approval. When approved, the model is used in the casting process. The casting is then hand finished with an oxidized finish for bronze or blacked for aluminum. The bas relief is mechanically attached to the cast plaque background.
Note: The price shown in the bas relief pricing grid does not include the cost of the plaque.
Note: The standard overall height is 4 - 24 inches with a finished depth of 3/4 inch to 1 inch.
Note: Not available in flash bronze aluminum finish.
Flat Relief
Flat relief is an economic alternative to bas relief. Our flat relief plaques include 2D images on the plaque. The process starts with a high-resolution photograph or illustration that our artists will create into a black-and-white rendering. Suitable for interior or exterior applications. The level of detail is determined by size and preference.
Note: The price shown in the flat relief pricing grids does not include the cost of the plaque.
PhotoRelief
A seamless blend of casting and photography, PhotoRelief is for unique signage, historical markers, or any plaque that needs to tell a story with text and pictures. We can use one or more photographs to create a simple or more elaborate collage that illustrates a customer's vision. High-resolution photos are required. Additional lead times may apply. Available up to 36 inches by 24 inches.
Note: Not available for flash bronze treated aluminum.
Etched Portrait on Metal
The etching process allows you to replicate your photograph, line drawing, or complex artwork in stunning detail. This method utilizes a halftone dot pattern made from a 50-line screen. They have visible dot patterns and are black paint-filled to contrast the brushed background finish. Portraits will resemble newspaper photographs, and the best images for halftone etched portraits have sharp contrast tones with bright white areas, dense dark areas, and minimum gray tones. Monotone or muted color photographs will produce poor halftone etchings. Halftone etchings are available in stainless steel, bronze, and brass.
Note: The price in the plaque pricing grids does not include the cost of the plaque. Available up to 10 inches. For larger etched portraits, please submit your photo file and requested size for review and special pricing.
Colorlast Insert
Gemini can apply your images as inserts into architectural plaques. Our high-resolution printers render UV-cured, non-elastic inks up to 1200 dpi. The combination of our high-resolution printing and premium base materials results in a picture-perfect solution excellent for all indoor applications and non-harsh environment exterior installations.
Note: Inserts are available for cast plaques.
Note: Direct Colorlast print is also available for precision and etched plaques to capture full-color detail, photos, small logos, or text.
Note: The price of the insert or direct print does not include the cost of the plaque. Available up to 10 inches. For larger Colorlast portraits, please submit your photo file and requested size for review and special pricing.
Oval and Rectangular Inserts
A full-color digital transfer is applied to a blank. Additional lead times may apply. For shape and size options, see your catalog or or the downloadable pricing grids.
Note: The price of the insert does not include the cost of the plaque.
Sculpted Relief
Note: Sculpted relief plaques are only available for military or government plaques and seals.

Paint and sand texture are applied to the background of the plaque and completed with a clear coat to protect the finish.
